BSRD Scientific Meetings and Events

BSRD hold two scientific meetings each year, the main one being held in the Spring (typically April or May) and the second in the Autumn (typically in November). Both meetings have a clinically focussed programme and include content that aims to appeal to practitioners, specialists and trainees alike.

Spring and Autumn Meetings

The Spring meeting is a 2 day meeting, usually held in the ‘home town’ of the new President, who is installed at this meeting. The Spring meeting programme is planned by the incoming President and can therefore set the tone for their presidential year. The programme often includes a keynote speaker from Europe or further afield. There is a strong social programme including a round of golf on the morning of the first day, and a conference ‘Gala’ black tie dinner at the end of the first day, where members and delegates can meet and catch up with old and new friends and colleagues; a very important aspect of BSRD membership!

The Autumn meeting is generally a one day scientific meeting, most often held in London during November. The Annual General Meeting is held during our autumn meeting, giving society members a chance to catch up with the activity of the society and to elect new council members and officers. There is also time to meet colleagues and friends.

Recently BSRD has been building closer links with its sister societies, including holding joint meetings.

Both annual meetings include an opportunity for trade sponsors to exhibit, giving delegates a chance to talk to our colleagues in industry, whose support for our meetings is so valuable and without whom the meetings would not be able to take place.

There is also an opportunity to enter various prizes, involving oral or poster presentations at both meetings, details of which can be found on our prizes pages.

Roadshows

In addition to the above, the BSRD run roadshows at a variety of the Dental teaching hospitals around the country. Run by trainees at the various hospitals, and coordinated by a council member, these evening meetings cover a variety of topics and include food and a chance to talk.
