I was very honoured to be President of the Society in 2015-2016. I thoroughly enjoyed organising a successful meeting in Bristol “Building on Firm Foundations” with internationally acclaimed speakers including Professor Tara Aghaloo and Dr Bill Schaeffer as well as renowned speakers with whom I was fortunate to have trained with and worked with over my career. At the meeting we all enjoyed a very splendid reception and dinner on the SS Great Britain. My presidency, and holding this meeting, is a memorable highlight of my career. I have also much enjoyed being on the BSRD Council and in particular being Treasurer of the Society for two separate terms.
After qualifying from Guy’s in 1976, my career commenced with posts at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and at Guy’s Hospital, London, but I spent most of my working life at Bristol Dental Hospital where latterly, I was a Senior Teaching Fellow / Consultant in Restorative Dentistry enjoying the mix of clinical work, teaching and research.
Outside of work, I enjoy many creative hobbies, in particular sewing and knitting as well many activities revolving around music and playing the Cello. I also enjoy outside activities such as walking, swimming, camping, cycling and gardening.
I am excited to see the Society moving successfully into the second half of its first century and wish it every success.
