Jeremy graduated from the Royal Dental Hospital in 1965. He worked in dental practice in Middlesex, Bristol and Kingston on Thames. He was appointed as Registrar at the Eastman Dental Hospital and was one of the first Senior Registrars in Restorative Dentistry trained on a programme organised by the recently formed SAC in Restorative Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
At the end of the SAC programme, in 1979, Jeremy was appointed to a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry post at Birmingham Dental Hospital. One of his main aims on appointment was to establish outreach services to take specialist advice and treatment to other parts of the West Midlands.
Jeremy was involved in Senior Registrar training in Birmingham and initially served on and later chaired the SAC in Restorative Dentistry. He was instrumental in establishing the Consultants in Restorative Dentistry Group and served for 5 years as the first Honorary Secretary.
Jeremy had been a keen contributor to the British Society for Restorative Dentistry during postgraduate training and during his Consultant post. He was especially honoured to be nominated as President for the 25th anniversary year.
His very successful Presidential Annual Meeting was held in Birmingham.
Shortly before taking up his Presidential Year Jeremy was elected to the Board of Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and served on the Board until shortly before retiring in 2003.
Jeremy and Linda now live in Chichester, enjoy music, and have travelled extensively, particularly to family and grandchildren in Tasmania.
Jeremy would like to wish the BSRD and its members every success in the future.
